DEATH & BEYOND
She sits motionless
arms surrounding her knees
mesmerized by the pool of red
forming puddles at her feet
seeping into Mother Earth.
For a moment she looks onto herself:
Blood dripping from each wrist streaming
as it joins the ritual cuts around her ankles
as gently as water flows down a brook.
She takes one last conscious breath
